MSR reader (credit card reader) issues

 
 

If a credit card is not going through, it could be the card reader.

To test the card reader:

Step 1

Get a keyboard and connect it to the station

 

Step 2

Click the windows key

 

Step 3

In the search box Enter the word – notepad

Step 4

Click on the notepad icon

 

Step 5

Slide a credit card in the card reader. If the card reads numbers – that means the card reader is dirty and need to be cleaned. If it doesn’t read number then proceed to step 7

Step 6

To clean the MSR (card reader) – take a damp paper towel, put it on a credit card and swipe the cards continuously

If this does not fix the issue.

Step 7

Unplug & plug in the MSR (card reader) & reboot the station

Unplug MSR from all in one terminal – MSR reader is attached to the station on the right side. In the back of the station are screws that hold up the reader. Unscrew and pull out the card reader. Plug it back in and reboot the station (see FAQ on Properly reboot station)

 

Unplug MSR from desktop computer – The MSR card reader is attached by USB. Unplug the USB card reader and plug it back in and reboot the station (see page J-6c)
